Adopting With Animal Aid 246
To adopt with Animal Aid 246, we require an adoption fee of £95, this covers neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worming treatments. The cost of these individually are:
Neutering £50
Vaccinations £45 - £65
Flea and worming £10
Microchipping £15
The price we ask for adopting is a fair price to cover the expenses incurred by the charity and may change depending on the age of the cat. Generally for older cats we charge less to ensure they are given an equal chance of adoption.
To adopt there are a number of steps to our process:
1. You must first make an appointment to meet the cats
2. Once the visit is completed we ask for a deposit to reserve any cat you have chosen
3. A home visit and adoption paperwork is completed (at this point the remaining balance must be paid)
4. We arrange to either deliver you new family member or arrange for you to collect from the charity.
Terms and Conditions
1. Any information concerning the habits and history of the cat is passed on by the Charity to the adopter in good faith. The information has been provided to assist with the adoption process and successful adoption of the cat which may have come into the Charity’s care for example, by being signed over by the cat’s previous owner, found abandoned, lost and of unknown background. The information we provide you may be based on statements from the previous owner or are the observations of the Charity’s cattery staff while the cat has been in the Charity’s care. We cannot guarantee this information is correct despite every effort being made to ensure correct information is passed on to the adoptee.
2. Animal Aid cannot accept responsibility for the temperament of any cat once it has been rehomed. All cats are rehomed at our discretion and we reserve the right to refuse an application to rehome without reason.
3. Animal Aid cats are given thorough health and temperament assessments. This gives us an insight into their character and enables us to make a considered decision as to which type of home would be best for the cat. However, once a pet has settled into a new home, his or her behaviors can sometimes alter.
4. The cat is believed to be in normal health on leaving the Charity’s establishment, except where specific conditions have been made known to the Adopter on the Adoption Application Form and the responsibility for and cost of any future veterinary or other treatment shall be borne solely by the Adopter.
5. The cat’s welfare is our priority and we will work with you to resolve any concerns or questions you have in respect of the cat after adoption and we ask you to contact the Charity giving full details of the issue as soon as possible.
6. Attention is drawn to the possible liability of the Adopter for damage and injury which may be caused to third parties or their property. Liability may arise under the Animals Act 1971; the possibility of an action for nuisance against the Adopter because of the cat’s behaviors should also be recognized. The Charity strongly advises the Adopter to arrange appropriate insurance cover against risks referred to in this agreement and the costs of veterinary treatment.
7. The Adopter confirms by signing this form that to the best of their knowledge and belief no person residing in their household, or who will care for the cat, is disqualified from keeping any cat or has had a deprivation order made under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and/or has an unspent conviction for offenses relating to cats.
8. If the cat is a male and unneutered at time of adoption, the Adopter agrees to having the cat neutered as soon as possible unless there are overriding veterinary reasons for it not being possible.
9. When adopting from the Charity, the adopter agrees for their personal data to be passed to the microchip database by the Charity for the purposes of registering the microchip. The adopter agrees to maintain the microchip records for the adopted cat, by informing the microchip database of any changes of address or ownership of the cat post-adoption.
10. The adopter agrees not to irresponsibly sell or part with the cat and where possible to alert the Charity should rehoming be necessary after adoption.
11. The agreement is between the adopter and the Charity and no other party has the right to enforce the terms of this agreement.
12. The adopter agrees to comply with all relevant regulations, legislation and laws concerning the welfare, control, responsible ownership and protection of cats including without limitation the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and Codes of Practice issued in England and Wales under the 2006 Act and to ensure anyone with the temporary care of the cat also complies. The welfare needs of the cat means providing for the cat’s health, happiness and taking measures to ensure that the cat’s health is maintained, in that he/she is properly housed, fed, watered, socialized, exercised and receives appropriate veterinary care, including vaccination, regular worming and flea treatment, as appropriate.
13. Your privacy is important to us. We have a statutory basis for collecting your personal data and we do not need to ask for your permission to collect it, however we will only every share your data on a basis of need in line with the terms and conditions listed above. We will only share your data in line with legislation and will work transparently with you at all times in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679).
